Description:
Facilitate communication access among Deaf and hearing communities
Provide interpreting and/or transliterating services primarily in the healthcare environment
Keep all medical information strictly confidential
Follow the NAD-RID Professional Code of Conduct
Render the message faithfully, always conveying the content and spirit of the speaker
Accept assignments using discretion with regard to skill, setting, and the consumers involved
Function in a manner appropriate to each interpreted situation
Strive to further knowledge and skills through professional development
Maintain high professional standards by virtue of professional membership, certification, and ethical practices.
Requirements:
Complete proficiency in ASL
Valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
Knowledge of the NAD-RID Professional Code of Conduct
Self-motivated with good customer service skills
Able to work well with minimal supervision
Good judgment and problem-solving abilities
Strong attention to detail
Ability to plan ahead and maintain a flexible work schedule
Strong coaching, development, and communication skills
Experience using MS Office and other related software and systems (e.g., Internet and Intranet applications)
Medical interpretation experience
