Job Summary:

Marcom is Apple’s Global Marketing Communications group. We oversee all of Apple’s advertising and marketing to ensure the flawless development and execution of world-class communications. The App Clearance Manager role is responsible for securing the rights and clearances of third-party IP within the context of Apple’s product marketing. Specifically, this role will focus around… third-party apps & games within Apple’s marketing.

Key Qualifications:
• Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in advertising, entertainment, law, or other content-focused industry
• Working knowledge of IP rights including copyright, trademark, & licensing in the area of entertainment or adverting law (emphasis on digital content/technology a plus)
• Experience with risk mitigation as it pertains to IP
• Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment managing multiple projects at once
• Proven ability to exercise sound, strategic, and executable legal & business judgement in challenging situations
• Calm approach and strong communication skills
• Natural problem solver — no two projects here have a “one size fits all” solution
• Familiarity with Apple’s products and services a plus, especially apps & games
• Ability to communicate legal concepts and risk with internal partners & colleagues who don’t come from a legal background

Description:
• You’ll work cross-functionally across Apple, and externally with app developers, to clear third-party app & game content for global marketing projects viewed by millions around the world
• You’ll help solve complex IP & licensing challenges using creativity, risk mitigation, and relationship management
• You’ll work directly with third-party rights holders directly to secure permissions and clear rights to content, ranging from software, demo screenshots & videos, icons, logos, gaming accessories, photography, names & likeness, trademarks, copyrighted materials, open source software, etc… for a variety of marketing deliverables including broadcast/TV
• You will monitor project production to ensure compliance with procedures & policies, and to ensure faithful usage of third-party IP
• You’ll be responsible for identifying and mitigating risk throughout the creative brainstorming, production, and execution phases of marketing projects
• You’ll coordinate with the global App Store, Product Marketing, Legal, and Developer Relations teams throughout the lifespan of projects
• You’ll handle & traffic digital assets from external partners and inventory them in a digital rights management system for posterity
• You’ll work closely with Legal to receive guidance, establish processes, and take ownership of the usage of legal disclaimers in our projects
• You’ll work on special projects and will come in contact with emerging technologies like AI, ML, augmented reality, and more

Education:
• BA/BS or related degree required. JD or MBA preferred
