About the Role & Program
KABC-TV (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV), located in Glendale, near downtown Los Angeles. The station is in the #2 ranked television market in the country. Weekly, our team at ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns! ABC7 Los Angeles has the top TV news website and app in the LA… market, and we have the largest social media following of any station in the entire country.
The internship program is designed to provide you with an educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming and contribute to daily operations of a major market television station! We’re looking for an intern for our digital team, based in our Glendale newsroom that will support ABC7 en Español.
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 to early June 2025.
What You Will Do
Accurately translate ABC7 news reports from English to Spanish on all digital platforms, including but not limited to websites, apps and social media
Collaborate with newsroom to coordinate on-air and online news coverage
Post content to various digital and social platforms
Create assets for social media using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere
Required Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience (academic or internship) in digital media and/or journalism (broadcast/print/digital)
Must be able to translate, write, and publish in both English and Spanish
Experience using Microsoft Word
Familiarity with social media platforms
High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AP Style
Experience in and knowledge of using social media platforms to post content
Experience using Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop
Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Slack
Previous coursework in producing, writing, or editing
Education
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year or recently graduated within the past 6 months preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 to early June 2025
Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program? in the Glendale, California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work?
The pay rate for this role in California is $17.28 per hour.
