The Manager, Information Reporting and Withholding Tax Advisory, will:
Provide tax technical advice with respect to US information reporting and withholding, FATCA, CRS, intercompany and supplier agreements, and new product and other new business proposals
Partner with business groups and monitor new products/transactions to ensure the proper application of tax information reporting and tax withholding rules
Review and comment on business procedure documents to ensure compliance with tax information reporting/withholding rules
Provide strategic guidance to business groups to help resolve business challenges
Provide guidance on year-end reporting (Forms 1099, 1042, etc)
Track and proactively assess how legislative, administrative, and other legal developments impact American Express, including liaising with Government Affairs and external industry organizations
Interact with tax authorities to resolve tax information reporting items
Provide tax technical guidance during tax audits and controversies, including drafting responses to IDRs and assisting in managing relationships with tax authorities
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years experience in taxation with an interest in information reporting and withholding matters
JD degree required
Proactive self-starter with ability to drive results
Ability to perform tax research and analysis
Strong analytical/problem solving skills with ability to translate ideas into value added solutions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to build relationships and work effectively with internal clients and external advisors
Well-developed organizational, time management, planning, and prioritization skills
Willingness to develop skills and experience in other areas of taxation
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a law firm, national public accounting firm, and/or a large multi-national corporation
LLM degree is a plus
Salary Range: $85,000 to $135,000 annually + bonus + benefits
