About the position

The Part-Time Student Employment & Loan Specialist at Ashland University plays a crucial role in the Financial Aid Office by assisting students and parents through the financial aid process. This remote position focuses on managing federal work study programs and student loans, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting the Loan Counselor in awarding loan programs. The specialist will interact with various departments and agencies to facilitate student eligibility and oversee the execution of financial aid programs.

Responsibilities
? Conducts needs analysis in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations to determine eligibility of financial aid applicants.

? Determines types and amounts of student loans to be awarded through the packaging process according to requirements.

? Utilizes reporting tools to identify federal loans requiring action, including awarding federal PLUS loans.
,
? Processes loan adjustments resulting from R2T4 calculations or other requested changes using the Etrieve system.
,
? Evaluates loan records to identify variances and uses professional judgment to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
,
? Utilizes external servicers to identify, certify, and actualize private student loans.
,
? Reviews and processes on-campus student work authorization forms for accuracy and eligibility.

? Counsels students throughout the hiring process for on-campus positions.

? Assists with federal work study data collection and reporting.
,
? Serves as the on-campus supervisor for the America Reads and America Counts FWS tutoring programs, acting as a liaison between tutors and K-12 teachers.

? Sets schedules, manages staffing, and processes time sheets for tutors.
,
? Completes other tasks as requested by the Assistant Director of Compliance and Director of Operations.

Requirements
? High School completion required.
,
? One (1) to two (2) years of office experience or related field.

? Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software, particularly Microsoft Excel.

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

? Strong judgment, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
