Position Overview:
Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a virtual learning environment. You will collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other professionals to ensure students with diverse needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver individualized, engaging instruction to students with disabilities in a virtual classroom setting.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Use data-driven instructional strategies and online tools to address the unique needs of each student.
• Regularly assess student progress, adapt instructional methods, and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and create accommodations for students.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and provide strategies for at-home support.
• Maintain thorough records, documentation, and compliance with IDEA and Ohio state regulations.
• Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing training.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid Ohio teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
• Experience working with students with disabilities (autism, ADHD, speech/language disorders, etc.).
• Ohio DOE Certification
• BCI Background Check
• Proficient in the use of virtual teaching platforms and educational technology.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to provide differentiated instruction and manage a diverse caseload of students.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience in a virtual teaching environment.
• Familiarity with Ohio state standards and special education regulations.
• Proficiency with IEP writing and implementation in an online format.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and families in a virtual setting.
